CHENNAI: Star Health and Allied Insurance has received a demand notice from the directorate general of GST intelligence, Mumbai zone unit, for a tax demand of around Rs 39 crore.
The notice pertains to non-payment of GST liability on the premium received by the company as a follower insurer under a coinsurance arrangement during the period from July 2017 to March 2023, the standalone health insurer informed the stock exchange on Monday.
The notice refers to matters relating to industry wide issues and based on the advice of its tax advisers, the company will be filing appropriate response to the show cause cum demand notice within the prescribed timelines, it added.
