Honda unveils autonomous vehicle, next-gen concepts – Times of India

TOKYO: As it celebrates its 75th anniversary, Honda Motor Co is gearing up to roll out future-ready mobility solutions, some of which are being showcased at the ongoing Japan Mobility Show here.
“When we look back on our history of offering a wide range of value to our customers and society as a manufacturer of mobility products, we can say that Honda has grown to this point while always being driven by dreams,” Toshihiro Mibe, president, CEO and representative director at Honda Motor Co, said at the show.
It has lined up a range of new mobility product concepts for travel on the ground, in the ocean and the skies, including a specialty sports model – Prelude Concept.
“Mobility enables us to see new surroundings, meet new people and discover new things, which expands the world we live in,” Mibe said. Elaborating further on the upcoming products, he said Cruise Origin, an autonomous vehicle being developed by Honda, will enable people to transcend the constraint of time.
Together with GM and Cruise, Honda is planning to launch a driverless ride-hail service using the Cruise Origin, in Japan in early 2026.
Likewise, Honda eVTOL and HondaJet will help expand the mobility three-dimensionally. SUSTAINA-C Concept is a car made of acrylic resin that is recycled and reused.
“This kind of resource circulation will enable us to transcend the constraints of the limited availability of resources and achieve both environmental sustainability and the joy and freedom of mobility long into the future,” Mibe added.
Honda is also in the process of rolling out a specialty sports model, Prelude Concept. “This model will become the prelude for our future models which will inherit the “joy of driving” into the full-fledged electrified future and embody Honda’s unalterable sports mindset,” he added.
