E-scooter makers refund ‘overcharged’ amount to buyers – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Four electric two-wheeler manufacturers have either refunded or deposited the amount they had “overcharged” buyers of their scooters.
These companies had been ordered by the heavy industries ministry to refund the amount to buyers for chargers.
According to data available with the ministry, against the refund amount of Rs 312 crore, Rs 183 crore has been refunded by the companies while Rs 129 crore has been deposited with the government.
Ather Energy has deposited close to Rs 100 crore, while refunding around Rs 58 crore. Similarly, Ola Electric has refunded Rs 115 crore directly to buyers with Rs 21 crore deposited. Two others – TVS and Hero MotoCorp – have also made progress, sources said.
