MUMBAI: Deepak Parekh, who stepped down from his executive role at HDFC in December 2009, has not received salary or ESOPs (stock options) for the 13 years he was a non-executive chairman. During a conversation with Janmejaya Sinha, chairman of BCG, at the Global Fintech Fest, Parekh said that one of the toughest decisions in his career was to step down from an executive role at the age of 65, despite both the board and his family wanting him to continue.
